Yakupov was a bust and he got what he could. he was shopped all over and no takers. Cant get on the GM for that one imo.

Yes. Each situation is different. On Bill Maher this weekend he was lamenting people's ability to differentiate between slightly similar events and to go with all or nothing analysis. I feel his pain.

The Coyotes GM has done a great job in my opinion and the team is a work in progress.

The Sabres are brutal, but that mostly on their Tim Murray. I don't think Botterill being fired six months into his job is going to change anything.

In fact, I think the Oilers and Canadiens could follow the leads of the Coyotes and Sabres who both recently fired their old-school GMs and went with younger, smarter, more progressive guys.

For the Oilers, there are millions of people out there who have never traded three franchise players for ten cents on the dollar. They should hire one of them.

Then you keep him and work with him. He was what, 22 when they bailed on him? Give me a break.

Now I’m not saying you’re wrong Tanner, but in your blog you state the Oilers are cap strapped by Lucic’s contract, but at the same time you lament the moves of Eberle and Hall, who are currently making the exact same amount. Wouldn’t it be fair to say that the Oil would still had to have dealt one of Hall or Eberle or both, even if Lucic hadn’t been signed? How would one afford McDavid, Draisaitl and those two?

Okay. I’ll give you Hall. Who else has been traded that’s franchise? Sure as (frank) not Eberle. He’s a very good complimentary winger. Definitely not a franchise.

chayka is one of the best GMs in the game, maybe in history when all is said and done.

Why did he pass on him? does that make him a bad GM?

true but you also dont put a guy like Yak on the 4th line or bottom 6 role, Embrace what he is and dont try to force him into roles that he isnt made to do.

He scores, come hug. Repeat

It's fair to say that, I see your point, but that doesn't mean they had to give them away.

Dont forget about trading EDM first (Barzal) for G.Reinhardt, which was a terrible trade on its own, only to lose Reinhardt in the expansion draft.

Agreed, either top 6 in the NHL or AHL, never bottom six. Kid could have stayed in the AHL for a couple years and built up his game/confidence and lit up the NHL.
